Electrical Tips
In our line of work, we come across many shocking discoveries that are very dangerous. As professional electricians, we have had many hours of training just on the safe ways to work with electricity. Here are some basic tips for everyone in their homes:
Never run electrical cords or wires under carpets, rugs, or furniture.
Do not staple, pin, or nail cords to the baseboards, walls, or other objects in your home.
Using multi-plug sockets such as adapters, extension cords, and the like can be very dangerous.
Remove all materials that can go up in flames away from heaters and lamps. Remember, halogen bulbs get very hot.
Portable or movable heaters should be moved away from high-traffic areas.
Never use or run any electrical appliances near bodies of water such as the bathtub or sink. When they are in use, make sure they are kept at a safe distance and the sink or tub is empty.
Frequently inspect your electrical cords for spots of wear or fraying.
Never mend or tape up an electrical wire; just replace it. The extra cost is much less than the devastation caused by an electrical fire, even a small one.
Extension cords should be used only for short periods of time and for one item at a time.
If you are not sure of what you're doing, messing around with electricity can be extremely hazardous. Always get a professional’s advice before beginning any home project.
